WORKSHOP 3: New ICC Features in Real World Applications
Convener: Max Derhak, Onyx Graphics, ICC co-chair (US)
Duration: 2 hours
Workshop Time: 15:45 - 17:45
Description
This workshop introduces the utilization of the next generation features in current International Color Consortium (ICC) profile versions. The iccMAX specification (ISO 20677:2019), published in 2019, provides additional mechanisms for color management that allow for extended color profile connectivity (including spectral and custom observing conditions connections), as well as more robust encoding of color transforms. However, extensive support and implementation is still lacking due to it not being backwards compatible with existing systems; complete implementation throughout color workflows would be required for it to be fully supported. In this workshop, multiple aspects of utilizing the extra features are discussed, including cultural heritage archiving, HDR workflow, and individual color matching functions. The mechanism of porting iccMAX into current ICC profile versions is also discussed.
